Polos and Pizzas

The only way to catch up with friends is over chilled white wine and massive pizzas! So off we trotted to Zizzis.

I am in love with the pattern on this skort (shorts that think they're a skirt). As a big fan of floral these are gorgeous as they're not overly girly with bright, bold colours. The gold zips add a bit of extra detail and are also deceptively slimming - perfect after a pizza feed - with diagonal lines. Zara's skorts became a staple with the cross over front and these cheeky Primark beauties emulate that perfectly. A black polo is a simple classic that let the bright colours of the pretty pattern do all the talking.

Black and gold accessories were exactly what this outfit needed. The gold chain is simple, but statement and looks great with the black polo, breaking up the solid colour. I adore these earrings and wear them all the time - they are so easy to match with anything. With a black gem in the middle and a few sparkles for good measure they are pretty much perfect studs. My all time favourite boots finished off the theme - black with gold studs and buckles.

Of course it's still chilly outside so I couldn't resist wrapping up in an oversized Zara scarf. It's so cosy and the tassles make it just a little bit special. A denim jacket is definitely more of a Summer style but with a massive cuddly scarf and polo it can be perfect for winter too.

We kicked the night of with a couple of cocktails and of course some fizz before we skipped off to Zizzis on Royal Exchange Square. This is a beautiful building for a restaurant with high ceilings and decorative cornices. The blazing open kitchen, complete with a roaring pizza oven make the setting.

I'm not one for chain restaurants, but I do really like Zizzis. The pizza are huge - HUGE and are amazing value for money, they only thing I would say is that the other mains don't quite match the same value for money. I was pleased with my calzone pizza though - filled with spinach, chicken, mushroom, creamy mozzarella and loads of other tasty things it was darn good.

Glasses of wine were sloshed and gossip swapped all in all a lovely evening - thanks ladies!

Pastel vs. The Classic

I pretty much always have my nails painted, come rain come shine. It just doesn't feel right having bare, naked nails. A pop of colour, a bit of dazzle, a sophisticated nude - I've tried (and loved) them all. And now Spring is in the air (so we're told) a major nail trend is pastel polishes, but are classic red nails always going to be a winner?

Pastel shades are beautiful for Spring coming in many shades - mint, lilac, pink etc. etc. And all make me want to skip through blossoms in a pretty dress.

Although I'm not really a purple person the No7 Lucky Lilac was too gorgeous not to try. I actually really liked the colour as it wasn't a really obvious purple. One coat didn't do the job for me looking a bit wishy washy but two brought out the lovely lilac.

I would thoroughly recommend jumping on the pastel bandwagon the colours look super-sweet matched with your outfit accessories (think Blair Waldorf). Reminding me off bouquets from flower markets, cotton candy and Mini Eggs they make me want to go for afternoon tea and eat scrumptious brunches.

But even with all these cauuute girly shades let's not forget the ultimate classic - red nails. They remind me of chic, scary, beautiful and powerful women with a little bit of Cruella de Vil thrown in the mix.

Nails inc do a great red, Victoria & Albert - the name says it all really, romance and the Queen. I would say I prefer wearing dark, deep reds and this one was pretty bright - perhaps being better suited to Summer, but it made me smile and that can't be a bad thing.

I found a great quote to describe red nails - "I remember she had these long, lovely nails with red varnish, in the middle of this shitty place we were in!" (Kate Adie). They're chic and bring a touch of class to any occasion. Let's remember they're a classic for a reason.

Which gets you're vote - the pastel trend or the classic red?

Latte Classy...

I went to a gorgeous wedding recently, and I thought this was a great opportunity for my first ever blog post!

It was such a lovely weekend, and a nice break from city-living. Driving down on the Friday night (despite the hurricane-esque weather) was a great idea. Gin and tonic in hand, a weekend away definitely counts as a holiday.

The next morning after taking advantage of the breakfast buffet - you might as well! - a wee swim and sauna was was the order of the day, a relaxing bath and the beautifying began...

With a wedding in March, it's not exactly Spring, but Winter should be long gone, so wintery colours are out but are head-to-toe flowers and pastels a bit too much just yet? Latte and a pink palette seemed the best bet.

I bought this dress from H&M a few years ago for a long weekend in Verona, obviously it wasn't quite as warm March in Scotland so the white blazer - an absolute bargain just gave me that wee bit of cover I needed.

Time to accesorize! Pastel pinks seemed perfect for a wedding and an ideal match for latte - it reminds me of pretty macaroons and creamy coffee - a pale pink clutch  teamed nude heels pulled everything together. I'll never say no to a statement necklace and this beauty was ideal, with a little bit of sparkle in the mix.

I hardly ever wear my hair, but I do really like it when I manage to fashion some sort of up-do with my tresses - and every time I do I usually mutter some sort of vow that I will do it more often. So with this vow in mind and countless rearranging in the mirror a simple twist pony was created. It's really easy to do - just pull your hair into a low pony, make a space above the band and fold the ponytail through - it just adds a lovely detail to an easy hairstyle.

Of course Mr. W looked dashing in his kilt (it's so easy for boys!)

I'm new to this Blogging business, but after admiring loads of beautiful bloggers I decided to give it a go. Expect lots of clothes, teapots and wishful thinking.

Bear with me and I promise to get to grips with all of this...

Any tips welcome!
